As communication technology progresses and high-speed Internet connects and distributes information quickly, consumers can easily read news anytime and anywhere. Document and research related to online news headlines were studied in order to analyze writing strategies, use of words and interpretation of word meaning used in writing news headlines. Samples were purposively collected from online news headlines during 1<sup>st</sup> January to 31<sup>st</sup> March 2020. Results from the study show that news writers normally use words with connotative meaning according to news story and contemporary social context in writing news headlines, in order to attract consumers’ attention and to make them follow the news story. Limitless area for presenting information, together with ability to rent area for all-time advertisement in a form of social media, bring large sum of revenue from advertising sponsors. Therefore, perceptions of writing strategies, use of words, and interpretation of word meaning in online news headlines should be studied and understood by consumers of news and information, in order to be able to interpret meaning and analyze information correctly and accurately.</p>}, number={4}, journal={NBTC Journal}, author={Theewara Saengin}, year={2020}, month={Dec.}, pages={374–393} }
