In order to analyze these influences, we used data from July 1997 to February 2023 and employed the GARCH-MIDAS model with the Shanghai Composite Index variable for empirical analysis. The main findings of this study are summarized as follows. Firstly, the Chinese Investors' Confidence Index, Consumer confidence index, Entrepreneur Confidence Index, Housing starts, Default spread, and Industrial Added Value positively impact long-term stock market volatility. This effect gradually strengthens over time. Other variables hurt the long-term volatility of the stock market. Secondly, Default spread has the highest predictive power, followed by USDX and Retail of Consumer Goods. Thirdly, the impact of macroeconomic variables, geopolitical events, economic indicators, and financial factors on stock market fluctuations varies significantly.
Jiacheng Li Seong-Min Yoon Copyright (c) 2024 NIDA Development Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 64 1 1 29 10.14456/ndj.2024.1 PHEIC, Investor Sentiment, Vaccination, and Stock Market: Experiment on COVID-19 https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/NDJ/article/view/265944
The study aims to research the association among the PHEIC, investor sentiment, vaccination, and stock market using COVID-19 related data as the variables. The data includes seven variables from Mar 2021 to Oct 2022 and is analyzed by the VAR method through R programming. The results show a valid association and long-term co-integration relationship among the COVID-19 cases, investor sentiment, COVID-19 vaccination, and the stock market. During the impulse response function analysis, it was found that when the COVID-19 cases, investor sentiment, and COVID-19 vaccination respectively received the impulse, the rest variables showed rapid and significant response except the market turnover rate and market index return. This study contributes to the knowledge of behavior finance during the pandemic. The study takes most all the potential impact variables, determining the importance of investor sentiment and COVID-19 vaccination during the pandemic. This study enables investors and policymakers to better understand PHEIC for effective decision-making, risk management and sustainable protection.
Lin Xiao Vesarach Aumeboonsuke Copyright (c) 2024 NIDA Development Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 64 1 30 65 10.14456/ndj.2024.2 The Role of Digital Media and Technologies and eHealth Literacy in Elderly Holistic Healthcare Practices https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/NDJ/article/view/267550
The purpose of this study aimed to conduct a literature review on the role of digital media and technologies, as well as eHealth literacy in the elderly’s holistic healthcare practices, following that the researcher offered recommendations that might be implemented for Thai elderly people in form of academic article. In terms of article selection methods, researcher employed purposive sampling technique from research and academic articles published in widely recognized national and international databases in online format and available through Google scholar search between 2019 and 2023, finally, the 16 articles met the inclusion requirements was chosen. A review of research and academic papers revealed that media and digital technologies, including eHealth literacy skills, had an impact on the elderly’s holistic healthcare practices. However, the digital divide between seniors with and without gadgets that could connect to media and digital technologies remained a concern. In addition, there was the issue of inadvertent dissemination of fake news through chat applications, both in terms of who obtained and who sent such news. Furthermore, several studies have conclusively demonstrated factors other than digital media and technologies influenced senior citizens’ holistic healthcare practices. Self-efficacy perception and social support were discovered to be common factors. Traditional medicine and religious beliefs were applied in the Thai geriatric environment to promote holistic healthcare practices among them. Social support from family members, involvement in community activities, living simply, self-sufficiency, and those of working and earning a high wage were all taken into account.

Keywords: Digital media and technologies, eHealth literacy, The elderly, Holistic Healthcare Practices

Kirati Kachentawa Copyright (c) 2024 NIDA Development Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 64 1 66 95 10.14456/ndj.2024.3 Towards Tourists’ Perspective: Creative Tourism and its Main Characteristics https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/NDJ/article/view/268145
The development of creative tourism has seen significant growth; tourists are active co-creators of their own experience and have become increasingly interested in learning about the cultural surroundings of the destinations they visit, through contact with the local people and their culture. Therefore, the integration and development of creative tourism is an inevitable choice for achieving regional economic and cultural appreciation. This paper aims to expound the concept of creative tourism and to determine the creative tourism characteristics from the tourist perspective. Exploratory factor analysis was employed to uncover the various said perspectives which pertain to creative tourism in the context of activity participation. The factors are categorized into five aspects: genuine value, co-creation experience, spirit of place, hands-on experience and cross-cultural experience. Finally, the development of creative tourism characteristics is recommended in developing creative tourism as well as creative tourism-related activities to promote the integration of creative industry and to strengthen the linkage between that of tourism and other industries.
Watsida Boonyanmethaporn Arif Kamisan Pusiran Yuzainy Janin Ruangrawee Suwanpramot Copyright (c) 2024 NIDA Development Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 64 1 96 115 10.14456/ndj.2024.4 A Study on Converting Lottery Money into Pensions for Thai Informal Workforce https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/NDJ/article/view/267349
This paper focuses on the Thai pension system, which has been ranked the lowest among 44 countries surveyed. A significant weakness that needs to be addressed is the provision of pensions for the informal sector workforce in Thailand. The existing government pension schemes, although voluntary, have not yet yielded satisfactory outcomes.

Since many workers in the informal sector choose to invest their money in the lottery instead of contributing to the Government Savings Fund designed for their retirement. This research proposes to establish a voluntary savings program called the "Government Savings Lottery Fund for Retirement." The system allows lottery money to be converted into retirement benefits. The study shows that redirecting expenditure from lottery tickets to long-term savings leads to increased lifetime monthly income, ensuring lasting financial stability without burdening the government. While substantial contributors receive sufficient pensions, those with minimal contributions can seek membership in the Government Pension Fund or the Social Security Fund for a decent post-retirement life (Section 40).

Nevertheless, this newly created pension system covers at least five aspects: (1) expanding labor protection, (2) raising income for retirees, (3) ensuring long-term financial sustainability, (4) strengthening the capital market, and (5) not burdening the treasury.
Pornpen Vora-Sittha Parichat Klingthong Copyright (c) 2024 NIDA Development Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 64 1 116 153 10.14456/ndj.2024.5 National Space Strategies: Building Thailand’s LEO Industry Cluster https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/NDJ/article/view/266577
Technological advancement is a crucial driver of economic growth. Thailand, aiming to escape the middle-income trap, requires robust science, technology, and innovation policies to enhance competitiveness. Embracing the new space economy, mainly focusing on low-Earth orbit (LEO) technology, can significantly contribute to national economic development. This paper offers policy recommendations to the Thai government and outlines a conceptual model for future research. Specifically, this examines how Thailand can advance its LEO industry cluster, drawing insights from the Diamond Model, the current body of knowledge in the relevant literature. Hence, the study provides eight policy recommendations for government actions. Moreover, future research must validate the proposed model and assess economic feasibility through cost-benefit analysis. Empirical evidence from future research will strengthen government recommendations from this study. Furthermore, mixed methods research, action research, and design science approaches can facilitate the development of evidence-based policies derived from the validated model.
Watanyoo Suksa-ngiam Ussanai Nithirochananont Pornthep Navakitkanok Atipat Wattanuntachai Panom Intarussamee Copyright (c) 2024 NIDA Development Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 64 1 154 188 10.14456/ndj.2024.6
