Abstract

This article aims to illustrate reciprocity of resources between Manchester United Football Club (Man Utd) and a Thai football fan club that supports Man Utd. First, conditions are explained that help the football club and the football fan club interweave with interdependence, which are the growth and the popularity of the English Premier League Football industry in Thailand. Later, the concept of interdependence is argued to understand the resource reciprocal between two social groups. Lastly, the results of the study are discussed by portraying that the interdependence between the football club and the football fan club goes through a resource reciprocal; one group takes resources lacking from another group. On the one hand, the football club receives economic resources by expanding its football fan base in Thailand. On the other hand, the football fan club has an intimate status by linking the football club to Thai football fans.
