Soifa : A Displaced Person in Khun Chang Khun Phaen

Abstract

This paper analyses the role of the character of Princess Soifa as a displaced person in the Wachirayan Library edition of Khun Chang Khun Phaen. Originally Soifa has the status as the princess of Chiangmai, but is to Ayutthaya as a prisoner of war and acquires a new status as a "royalty presented wife” of an Ayutthaya nobleman. As a displaced person, Soifa lost her prior identity and has to express some reflection as an antagonist.
