COHESION IN ‘COTMAICANGWANGRAM’

Abstract

The purpose of this reseach is to analyze the four types of cohesive devices in ‘Cotmaicangwangram’ : reference, ellipsis, conjunction and repetition. The contents of ‘Cotmaicangwangram’ can be devided into two parts : education and way of living. Four types of cohesion were found in this research : 1) References : pronominal, demonstratives, nominal and modifier. 2) Ellipsis : nominal ellipsis and verbal ellipsis. 3) Conjunctions : additive relation, adversative relation, conditional relation, causal relation, relation of result, reformatory relation, classifier relation, temporal relation, comparative relation, relation of word depiction, alternative relation transitional relation, exemplificatory relation, relation of purpose, relation of method, relation of starting and inferential relation. 4) Repetitions : recurrence, paraphrase and parallel structure.
