Rural Society in Switzerland Depicted in Ramuz's Novels : Derborence and Si le Soleil ne Revenait pas

Abstract

With these two following novels Derborence and Si le soleil ne revenait pas, written respectively in 1936 and 1939, C.F. Ramuz, a French novelist from Switzerland, introduces the reality of the everyday life in country side, works, traditions and believes of the villagers. The reader will get an outline of the rual poor society in Switzerland before World War II.
