Abstract
Blues is the music with a unique style that is the basis of notional music developed into jazz. For this result, there is the relationship in the outstanding and charming structures of the rhythm, the melody, and the playing style. Significantly, the notions of improvisation creation based on the blues’ original structures are presented through three chords of movement: tonic (I), sub-dominant (IV), and dominant-seventh (V7). The rhythmic structures were used to develop the blues into jazz. The movement of the chords has been interpolated, changed, and added to form a variety of styles according to contemporaries. However, the blues’ structures are considered as the norm in instrumentation and composition. The dominance of its melody structure is the blues note, which is the basic melody in the 3rd step of blues note scales: 1, b3, 5, and 7. The melody can be developed into 1, b3, 5, and b7 or 1, b3, b5, and b7 respectively. Therefore, the study of blues’ basic structures of the scales is crucial.
