The Names of Dramas Broadcasted on Thai TV Channel 3

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the names of dramas that were broadcast on Thai TV (Channel 3), to analyze the format of these dramas and to also analyze the meaning of the names. There were 103 titles. The results of the research showed that 47.57 percent had their name derived from the theme;  39.81 percent from character traits of the drama; 7.77 percent from the theme of the plot; and 4.85 percent from the Setting. Additionally, most dramas portrayed certain aspects of human emotion and beliefs. The most popular aspect was love at 27.2 percent; supernatural events at 19.41 percent; and human behaviour at 11.7 percent. Other factors included animals - 9.8 percent;  nationalism - 7.8 percent;  causality - 5.9 percent;  naming - 5.9 percent;  livelihood and dwelling - 3.90 percent;  nature - 3.9 percent;  time and vision - 1.95 percent; and disease treatment - 0.98 percent.
