The sample was divided into 3 subgroups: (1) 335 inhabitants aged between 13 – 70 years living in Thasala and Bangkhan districts, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, selected by using multi-stage cluster sampling, (2) 245 tobacco outlets selected based on the nearness to the selected inhabitants within a distance of 1 kilometer, and (3) persons involved in the system usage including 6 informants for the needs assessment and 12 respondents for the satisfaction survey. The data-gathering instruments encompassed a questionnaire, surveys, interviews, as well as the instruments used for the system development including web-based technology and Google Maps API. The results were obtained using frequency, percentage, MANOVA, and content analysis. The study results demonstrated that tobacco consumption and control situations among general population between areas with and without tobacco cultivation had a significant difference at .001 level. There were significant differences between viewing actors smoking in the media, effects of cigarette packet health warnings on the smokers, and individuals’ attitudes towards the danger of cigarette smoke at levels of .001, .01, and .05 respectively. Individuals’ attitudes towards smoking and their awareness of laws prohibiting smoking in public places were found significantly different at .001 level. No difference was found in smoking behaviors. Areas with tobacco cultivation have caused higher smoking rates per day than non-tobacco growing areas. Also, non-tobacco growing areas promoting a smoking-free community program have contributed to individual smoking cessation. The statistical and spatial data can be viewed on Google Maps with location pin symbol in different colors for more convenient analysis and use. The collected data can also be viewed on a computer or smart phone with internet access.</p>}, number={1}, journal={JOURNAL OF SOUTHERN TECHNOLOGY}, author={Jinpon, Puangrat and Pusitrattanavalee, Supattara and Jueboon, Manita}, year={2020}, month={May}, pages={24–36} }
