Besides, it is a qualitative research using a semi-structured interview purposively with 2 hotel managers and 2 specialists and event organizers who are policy makers of the two research sites for a total of 8 key informants. A pattern-matching technique was used for the data analysis. The findings revealed that the accommodation and in-room service quality of the domestic hotel in Mahasarakham can sufficiently satisfy most customers due to its value for money and reasonable prices which meet the customers’ expectation, whereas the services of the front of the house and concierge, food and beverages, and safety and environmental management and the quality of employees are not yet considered at an international standard and cannot be sufficiently satisfied, but there are some possibilities to be improved according to the SEP. Regarding the international hotel in Khon Kaen, overall service quality was managed at a sufficient level; the hotel conventions and meeting rooms are mostly satisfied at an international standard because they are totally certified by both Thailand and ASEAN MICE Venue Standards (TMVS-AMVS), followed by accommodations and in-suite services, food and beverages; however, both hotels have a similar constraint of employees’ international quality and knowledge. The issues of moderation, reasonableness, self-immunity, morality, and knowledge are discussed to implement the SEP in both theory and practice.
Preeda Chaiya, Em-orn Dispanya Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Srinakharinwirot Research and Development (Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/267542 Wed, 29 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 THE QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG MAHIDOL UNIVERSITY’S UNDERGRADUATES AT SALAYA CAMPUS https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/269144
This study is a quantitative research with the objectives to study and compare the quality of life among Mahidol University’s undergraduates at Salaya Campus. The samples are Mahidol University’s undergraduates who study at Salaya campus of the Academic Year 2020. Taro Yamane method was applied to calculate the sample size from the population number of 6,681 resulted in 707 subjects randomly selected using the stratified random sampling method in accordance with the proportion of the population in each group of the studying subject. Questionnaires were used to collect the information divided into two parts: 1) the demographic information including: gender, group of the studying subject, year of study, cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), monthly allowance, and accommodation during study; 2) the quality of life level in five aspects based on the concept from Hendershott, Wright, and Handerson. The questionnaire’s reliability is 0.97 assessed using Cronbach’s alpha-coefficient. The demographic information was analyzed using frequency and percentage, and the levels of the students’ quality of life were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The study found that the overall quality of life level of Mahidol University’s undergraduates at Salaya campus is at a good level. The results for the study of each aspect of the quality of life revealed that the academic, accommodation, interpersonal relationship, and the university’s services are all at good levels. However, the result for the social life aspect is at the medium level. The comparative study of the students’ quality of life level with each aspect of the demographic information were analyzed using the t-Test and One-Way ANOVA method. Then, the Scheffe Post Hoc Comparison method was applied to analyze the significant differences found. The study found that students with different year-of-study, group of learning subjects, cumulative GPA, and accommodation during the study resulted in different levels of their quality of life with the significance at 0.05. The different gender and monthly allowance did not affect the undergraduates’ quality of life. Academic institutions should provide support for the quality of life in accordance to the needs of all groups of students and the changes in society, economics, and technology especially the activities of the social life aspect.
Panwad Preeyanont, Chotimakan Chaiyes, Pornpen Phuak-aim, Nongluk Phonoi Copyright (c) 2023 Srinakharinwirot Research and Development Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/269144 Wed, 29 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 SOCIAL MOBILITY, RECONSTRUCTION, AND OVERLAP OF KATHOEY’S TERRITORY: A CASE OF THAIILAND AND GERMANY https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/269145
The objectives of this article were to: 1) analyze the social mobility and the reconstruction of resettlement communities which comprised of the physical, social, cultural, and imaginary of the Kathoey’s cabaret performers, and 2) analyze an overlap of the complex components of resettlement communities of the Kathoey’s cabaret performers. By applying the research methodology of the constructionism grounded theory by Kathy Charmaz, the data was collected by in-depth interviews with 23 target groups of Kathoey’s cabaret performers in Thailand and Germany. The content analysis was used for data analysis base on interpretation and construction to summarize ideas into new concept. The results of the study were as follows: 1) The social mobilities and reconstruction of the Kathoey’s territory were related to the government policy as well as changes occurred within social life of Kathoey. In 1967, the collective social mobility occurred on the physical territory of Bangkok. The state’s announcement of new tourism policy in Pattaya City in 1967-1972 increased the dramatically growth of Pattaya. To becoming a modern tourist city, new business investments drew massive interest from Bangkok investors. This change stimulated large groups of Kathoey to move in Pattaya. In 1974 a new style of cabaret show was opened for the first time. To support the service policy according to the National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 3., the shows drew attention from both local tourists and the international ones. During 1961-1989, some Kathoey migrated to Germany because they want to search for the “better life”. The new flexible policy for migrants of the German government during the Cold War period allowed convenient immigration for several Kathoey migrants, 2) After resettlement, there was overlapping of the Kathoey’s territory over the physical habitat. These could be divided into 3 dimensions, society, culture, and imaginary. They flow and change because of a model of relationship beyond the boundary among Kathoey members. This study concluded that there was strong evidence of relationship between changing in the state policy and forms of social mobilities. Moreover, the pattern of migrations was beyond boundary and showed the overlapping of complex structure and social interactions.
Wacharawuth Suesat, Patcharin Sirasoonthorn, Thanida Boonwanno Copyright (c) 2023 Srinakharinwirot Research and Development Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/269145 Wed, 29 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 VIOLENCES IN JITTIRAIN'S YAOI NOVELS https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/269146
The purpose of this article is to analyze Violences in JittiRain's yaoi novels, 2 stories, namely. The sample group consisted of executives at the level of director or deputy director of each educational institution, representing 275 public and private vocational schools. There were 6 issues in the questionnaire, and the data was analyzed by descriptive statistics. It was found that the expected conditions of vocational education management for people with mobility disabilities were at a high level in the aspects of personnel, management, curriculum/ teaching contents, and healthcare/health. Another result was that location/classroom/environment and facilities were at a moderate level. Guidelines for the management of vocational education for people with mobility disabilities emphasis should be placed on a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and on the inclusive education of people with mobility disabilities in the ordinary classroom. Personnel in educational institutions should have a positive attitude towards people with disabilities. Preventing dignity lessening and treating all students equally are important, including setting up a committee or assigning a person to be responsible for teaching and learning management. Educational institutions should regulate teaching methods for teachers to enable people with mobility disabilities to gain access to course contents like other learners. It is important that people with mobility disabilities get treatment /referral quickly and safely when they have an accident.
Worrawut Wentbap, Anuchai Ramwarungkura, Sathidaporn Khomsod Copyright (c) 2023 Journal of Srinakharinwirot Research and Development (Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/268200 Wed, 29 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0700 TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS AND TEACHING TECHNIQUES USING STUDENTS’ MUSIC PREFERENCES FOR INSTRUMENTAL CLASSES: A CASE STUDY OF BANGKOK MUSIC AND DANCE ACADEMY https://so04.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/swurd/article/view/269147
The research aimed to 1) study teachers’ perceptions on student’s music by specific factors such as music characteristics, familiarity, age, gender, mood, social influences, and nationality. 2) collect teacher’s teaching techniques on students’ music preferences and summarize their teaching methods through specific factors. This qualitative research gathered data through semi-structured interviews with 12 instrumental teachers at Bangkok Music and Dance Academy (BMDA). The key-informants were selected by using purposing sampling. The findings revealed the teachers’ perceptions and teaching techniques on students’ music preferences followed the 7 factors of music preferences that were 1) Musical Characteristics: musical characteristics of students’ music preferences can be summarized from complexity, tempo, and favorite style. Teacher would give enough information about music styles for students to have better understanding in the styles and song they prefer. 2) Familiarity: Listening to the song frequently or repeatedly can gradually change student’s musical preferences. So, modal performance (imitation) would be one of the clear teaching techniques. 3) Age: The different ages of the group have clearly different taste of music and different way to teach by teachers own selves. 4) Gender: There are no different music preferences and teaching techniques between male and female students. 5) Mood: Most Teachers strongly believed that, student’s moods do not affect their students’ music preferences. However, students’ mood is able to affect their lessons. Therefore, sometimes, the relationship between teacher and students is important and the teacher needs to be a persuader or a negotiator. 6) Social influences: It is one of the strong factors that can affect the taste of students’ music preference. Also, teachers should include student’s favorite trendily repertoires in their lesson. 7) Nationality: The factor of nationality can be affected by students’ musical preferences because the way of teaching and materials are different from each country. Understanding different cultures from different countries would be helpful to teach students from different countries. Finally, teachers can use students’ music preferences as a teaching tool such as using students’ favorite pieces as a repertoire for repetition, imitation, learning different tastes of music, and using social media in order to engage in music learning. The teachers should know student’s music preferences, their appropriately selected repertories, and then prepare appropriate lesson plan.
Jooyoung Kim, Preeyanun Promsukkul, Kyle R.
