ราชา ราม โมหัน รอย เป็นผู้เชื่อมต่อระหว่างอินเดียยุคมืดและยุคฟื้นฟูสู่ความเป็นสมัยใหม่ ท่านเป็นนักปฏิรูปศาสนา นักปฏิรูปสังคมของอินเดียจนได้ชื่อว่าเป็นบิดาแห่งอินเดียสมัยใหม่ รอยตีความหลักคำสอนของศาสนาฮินดู อิสลามและคริสต์ภายใต้หลักมนุษยนิยม วิธีการที่ท่านใช้คือการตั้งคำถามเชิงวิพากษ์ต่อหลักการที่เป็นปัญหาของสังคมสำหรับรอยหลักการทางศาสนามีไว้เพื่อรับใช้มวลมนุษย์ไม่ใช่เพื่อกดขี่และเอารัดเอาเปรียบเพราะศาสนามีเป้าหมายสูงสุดคือความหลุดพ้นของบุคคลและสังคม ดังนั้น การตีความหลักคำสอน พิธีกรรมทางศาสนาจึงต้องเป็นไปเพื่อประโยชน์แก่มนุษยชาติเป็นหลักที่สำคัญที่สุดคือประโยชน์ที่ว่านั้นต้องเป็นประโยชน์นิยมตามหลักการด้วยจึงจะสามารถรับใช้มวลมนุษย์อย่างแท้จริง นำพามนุษย์ไปสู่เสรีภาพและความสุขทางสังคม
