วัดมหาชัย : วัดธรรมยุติกนิกายแห่งแรกในมณฑลอุดร

บทคัดย่อ

วัดมหาชัย บ้านห้วยเชียง ตำบลลำภู อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดหนองบัวลำภู เคยเป็นวัดโบราณที่สร้างขึ้นในช่วงพุทธศตวรรษที่ 22-24 ดังที่มีการพบซากฐานพระเจดีย์อยู่ภายในวัด และมีความเป็นไปได้ว่าอาจเป็นพระเจดีย์สำคัญประจำชุมชนโบราณเมืองหนองบัวลำภู ตามคติทางพระพุทธศาสนาในวัฒนธรรมล้านช้าง ต่อมาถูกทิ้งร้างเนื่องจากภาวะสงครามในปี พ.ศ. 2370 และได้รับการสร้างเป็นวัดขึ้นใหม่เมื่อประมาณปี พ.ศ. 2440 โดยพระอาจารย์แสง ธมฺมธีโร ถือว่าเป็นวัดสังกัดคณะธรรมยุตวัดแรกในมณฑลอุดรและเป็นวัดคณะธรรมยุตสำคัญของจังหวัดหนองบัวลำภูในปัจจุบันWat Mahachai at Ban Huaychiang, Tambol Lamphu, Amphoe Muang, Nongbualamphu province is an ancient buddhist temple, there was built between the 17th-19th century by the Buddhist’s concept in the LanXang culture. The discovered of a pagoda’s ruin shows that the pagoda was an important place of the ancient community, Muang Nongbualamphu. However, the temple was abandoned because of the war in the year 1827 A.D. before there was rebuilt in the year 1897 A.D. by Phra Arjarn Saeng Dharmadhiro and become the fi rst temple of the Buddhist Dharmayuttikanikaya in Monton Udorn and to be the most important Buddhist Dharmayuttikanikaya of Nongbualamphu to the present day.
