Abstract
During a crisis, there is an opportunity. The COVID-19 pandemic made a tremendous change on this world in every dimension. People’s lifestyles change dramatically across the globe. The organizations and workers have to rethink that we will respond to the changes to survive or thrive for growth from experiencing unpredictable changes (Deloitte, 2021). This pandemic affected top management, who no longer could execute their previous strategic plans. Therefore, a new paradigm, a new mindset, and a new management system are entirely needed. For the literature review, the overview of COVID-19 and global situations in post-pandemic were reviewed and resulted in economic, social, and environmental aspects, also studying strategic human resource management and development (HRM/D) system.
This article proposes a conceptual model of sustainable human resource management and development in post-COVID-19. This model integrates changes with four dimensions of HRM/D: (1) recruitment & selection link to aging society and workforce, (2) engagement with non-financial link to relationship ecosystem in organization, (3) training & development link to reality skills, and (4) motivation with financial link to well-being-into-work integration. The organizations will gain a new perspective and guideline for application in their specific situations to adjust and achieve successful surviving, collective living, and meaningful existing in this world. The unexpected change may happen shortly again.
