Abstract

Improving Reading and Spelling Skills of Prathomsuksa 6 Students by Using Exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL) aimed 1) to find the efficacy of the lesson plans using Brain-Based Learning and exercises to improve reading and spelling skills of Prathomsuksa 6 students 2) to study the Effectiveness Index of learning activities by using exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL) to improve reading and spelling skills of Prathomsuksa 6 students and, 3) to study satisfaction towards learning activities by using exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL). The sample group, derived by the Purposive Sampling method, consisted of 35 students studying in Lakmuang Mahasarakham School, Mueang Mahasarakham District, Mahasarakham Province.


          The research instruments were 1) eight lesson plans to improve reading and spelling skills by using exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL) 2) the 30-item reading and spelling test categorized as four multiple-choice, and 3) a 15-item satisfaction questionnaire of Prathomsuksa 6 students towards learning activities. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Effectiveness Index. The results of the study revealed that 1) the efficacy of the lesson plans to improve reading and spelling skills of Prathomsuksa 6 students by using exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL) was 82.07/80.86 higher than the criterion, 80/80 2) the Effectiveness Index of learning activities to improve reading and spelling skills by using exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL) was 0.4639 as students had a progress in learning of 46.39 percentage, 3) the satisfaction of Prathomsuksa 6 students towards learning activities to improve reading and spelling skills by using exercises and Brain-Based Learning (BBL) was at a high level.
