Abstract

The objective of this study is to compare the construction of a bathroom in high-rise building between the conventional and prefabricated bathroom systems through a case study. Hotel and serviced apartment building on Lang Suan Road is the case study which has 332 modular prefabricated bathroom pods on 4th-23rd floor and 48 conventional bathroom on 24th-29th floor. Thecontrolled variables are type and size of both conventional and prefabricated bathroom.

According to the data collected from the case study, the construction time and the use of worker team, the prefabricated concrete bathroom can reduce the constructiontime if there are more than 62 bathrooms with 1-9 bathrooms per floor and 54 bathrooms with 10-18 bathrooms per floor. However, the costof this prefabricated concrete bathroom is 18.29-23.24% higher than the conventional bathroom.
