Integration of Contemporary Thainess in Architecture from ASA Journal

Abstract

         Architecture in Thailand has been developed gradually, influenced by environment, context, and popular beauty standards of each era, as well as putting some characters which are considered “Thai” into various types of buildings. Said “Thainess” was usually used to established relationships between appearance, feelings, and usage of spaces, with the condition of being able to comply with contemporary needs. However, buildings with the intention of being integrating Thainess were usually underappreciated. This article aims to present Thainess that appeared in architecture by rethinking the visions and ideas of architects throughout 60 years period by referencing ASA journals.
