สมมติฐานบางประการเกี่ยวกับรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรม พระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุอยุธยาในสมัยเมื่อแรกสถาปนา

Abstract

        บทความ “สมมติฐานบางประการของลักษณะทางสถาปัตยกรรมพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุอยุธยา เมื่อแรกสถาปนา” จากข้อสันนิษฐานว่าพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุอยุธยาน่าจะสร้างขึ้นในรัชกาลสมเด็จ พระบรมราชาธิราชที่ 1 (ขุนหลวงพระงั่ว) - รัชกาลสมเด็จพระราเมศวร ในปี พ.ศ.1931 จึงควรจะมี ความสัมพันธ์กับพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุลพบุรี ทั้งในแง่ของการวางผัง และรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรม ทั้งนี้สันนิษฐานว่า อาจเคยวางผังเป็นพระปรางค์วางตัวเรียงแถวหน้ากระดานกัน 3 องค์ นอกจากนี้ ในพระราชพงศาวดารกรุงศรีอยุธยากล่าวว่าพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุมีความสูงตั้งแต่ฐานจรดยอดประมาณ 38 เมตร แต่เนื่องจากเรือนยอดของพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุได้พังทลายลงมาในสมัยพระเจ้าทรงธรรม จึงเกิดคำถาม 2 ข้อ คือ ข้อที่ 1 บนเรือนยอดชั้นที่ 1 หรือที่เรียกว่าชั้นอัสดงตรงมุมประธานนั้นอาจ เคยตกแต่งด้วยประติมากรรมรูปครุฑหรือเป็นกลีบขนุน ข้อที่ 2 บนสันหลังคาของมุขด้านตะวันออก มีการตกแต่งด้วยสถูปทรงปรางค์ด้วยหรือไม่ อันนำไปสู่ข้อเสนอเพิ่มเติม และการสันนิษฐานรูปแบบ สถาปัตยกรรมพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุเมื่อแรกสถาปนาโดยใช้หลักฐานทางสถาปัตยกรรมของพระมหาธาตุ องค์อื่นๆ ที่สร้างขึ้นก่อนหน้า และสร้างร่วมสมัยกับพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุอยุธยา

Assumptions about Architectural Form of Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Ayuthaya in the Early Period

        This article comprises of three main parts: 1) the history of the temple relating to Ayutthaya period; 2) the architectural aspects of Phra Prang Mahathadu Ayuthaya during the first erection; and 3) the architectural aspects of Phra Prang Mahathat Ayuthaya during the preservation in the reign of King Prasat Thong.

        It has been assumed that Phra Prang Mahathat Ayuthaya was constructed during the reign of King Boromrachathiraj I (Khun Luang Phra Ngua) - King Ramesuan in 1388 due to the fact that the architectural style and the plan of Mahathadu relating to that of Pra Prang Mahathadu Lopburi. It was also found that the height of Phra Prang Mahathadu Ayuthaya t is 38 metres, then the top part collapsed in the reign of King Song Tham. It was assumed that the upper layer at the main angle used to be decorated with Garuda or decorated parts and the roof top at the east side was decorated with Stupa. The assumption was based on architectural evidences of other Phra Prang Mahathats which were previously built or built at the same period.
