Abstract
ARCHITECTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF LATE-AYUDHYA PERIOD
By Somjai Nimlek
The architecture of the late Ayudhya period is commonly understood to be distinctly characterised by a peculiar delineation of form at the base of the building. However, it is also interesting to note that the roof component displays certain characteristics of its own as well.
The article points out the relationship between the delineation of the roof and that of the base; its structure, form, style, and materials used in construction, that should not be overlooked when identifying architecture of the late Ayudhya period. This account is therefore useful for future references in the time when architecture of the period in their original state becomes increasingly difficult to find.
