PRECAST CONCRETE WALL COMPONENT: FIXING AND STRUCTURAL CONNECTION JOINT

        The design of fixing and structural connection joint details between wall compoments and a structural frame, should normally present few difficulties in practice.

        General considerations for architects in designing the connection joint are suggested in this paper. The principles, methods of fixing, and examples of joint details practiced in some industrialized countries are separately described by the basic ways of using precast concrete in architecture : permanent formwork, load bearing structural component, and cladding fixing to structural frame. The paper concludes with the methods of fixing which are currently used for some construction projects in Thailand in comparison with those in foreign countries.
