A Study of Teaching Method to Improve the Understanding of Democracy in the Contemporary Thai History Class

The purposes of this study were: 1) to improve teaching method and to enhance students’ knowledge in democracy; and 2) to enhance effectiveness of instruction of the Thai history course through the application of the research findings. The subjects of the study were 149 students who registered in the course Contemporary Thai History (HUM 114) in the summer term of the academic year 2013. The course consisted of 2 sections. The data collecting instruments included exercises encouraging students to self-study, and a post-test.
According to the results, the students in section 01 (treatment group) was better aware of the meaning and authority of democracy than the student in section 02 (control group), the significance of which was at 0.05. Moreover, the experimental group had significantly better learning achievement than the control group at 0.05.
