Abstract

This research addresses the relationships between local politics and education and the impact of local politics on basic education in the U.S. The analysis uses data from research reports, textbooks, and electronic data sources. The results indicate that the political power structure in the community affects the management behaviors of the members of the school board and the school superintendent. These relationships clearly adversely affect the quality of and opportunities for education among the children in the community. As a result, the state and the federal (or central) government plays an increasingly important role in regulating the quality of and opportunities for education for the children.
