การส่งเสริมประเพณีชักพระของเทศบาลตำบลวัดประดู่ Chak Pra Festival Promoting of Wat Pradu Sub District Municipality.

บทคัดย่อ

บทความนี้นำเสนอ เรื่องการส่งเสริมประเพณีชักพระของเทศบาลตำบลวัดประดู่ โดยศึกษาค้นคว้าจากเอกสาร บทความต่างๆ และจากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ที่มีความรู้เรื่องประเพณีชักพระ องค์ความรู้และภูมิปัญญาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับประเพณีชักพระ เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการส่งเสริมและอนุรักษ์ประเพณีชักพระของเทศบาลตำบลวัดประดู่สืบทอดต่อไปยังคนรุ่นหลัง   ผลการศึกษาพบว่า  ประเพณีชักพระเป็นประเพณีของชาวท้องถิ่นภาคใต้กระทำกันหลังวันออกพรรษา 1 วัน คือตรงกับวันแรม 1 ค่ำ เดือน 11  โดยพุทธศาสนิกชนพร้อมใจกันอัญเชิญพระพุทธรูปประดิษฐานบนบุษบกวางอยู่เหนือเรือพระที่เรียกว่า “พนมพระ” และแห่แหนไปตามถนนหรือลำน้ำ  ประเพณีชักพระเป็นประเพณีที่มีมาแต่โบราณเป็นการรวมกลุ่มกันเพื่อทำบุญ ก่อให้เกิดความสามัคคีของหมู่คณะ การชักพระหรือการลากพระเป็นพิธีบุญอย่างหนึ่งของชาวจังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานีถือเป็นประเพณีที่มีความยิ่งใหญ่ โดยก่อนวันลากพระ 10-15 วัน ประชาชนจะช่วยกันเตรียมเรือพระซึ่งจะมีการคุมโพนควบคู่ไปด้วย

เทศบาลตำบลวัดประดู่ได้มีบทบาทในการส่งเสริมประเพณีชักพระในหลายๆ ด้านด้วยกัน เช่น การสนับสนุนงบประมาณให้กับวัดเพื่อจัดสร้างเรือพนมพระ  การจัดงานสมโภชเรือพนมพระ การจัดกิจกรรมห่อขนมต้ม ทำให้ได้ทราบถึงองค์ความรู้และภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นที่เกี่ยวกับประเพณีชักพระเพื่อถ่ายทอดให้กับคนรุ่นหลังต่อไป  ซึ่งประชาชนในตำบลวัดประดู่มีความผูกพันกับประเพณีชักพระจะต้องทำสืบต่อกันเป็นประจำทุกปี  นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจได้อีกด้วย โดยการส่งเสริมให้มีการจัดทำสินค้าเพื่อจำหน่ายเป็นของที่ระลึกและการให้บริการด้านการท่องเที่ยว

Abstract

                This research had the objective of studying the promotion of the Chak Phra festival by the Wat Pradu Tambon Municipality. Data were collected by document a review and interviews with knowledgeable persons about the festival. This information was synthesized into guidelines for improved promotion and preservation of the Chak Phra festival by the new generation of community residents. The results of the study are as follows:

                The Chak Phra festival is common in parts of Southern Thailand, and is held at the end of Buddhist Lent. Sacred images of the Buddha are transported in boat-like floats through the town or on the water ways. The festival brings people together in communal merit-making and promotes solidarity within the community. The festival in Surat Thani is one of the biggest of its kind, with the locals preparing the floats and accessories several weeks in advance of the festival day.

                The Tambon Municipality of Wat Pradu plays a large role in promoting the Chak Phra festival, including financial support to build the floats, managing the festival events, preparing of sweets, and sharing traditional wisdom about the festival with the younger generation. The community also generates income from the festival through production of souvenirs for sale.
