ภูมิปัญญาในการทอผ้าย้อมสีธรรมชาติ (Traditional Wisdom of Natural Cloth Dyeing)

Abstract

บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมความรู้ด้านการย้อมผ้าฝ้ายสีธรรมชาติในตำบลธาตุทอง อำเภอสว่างแดนดิน จังหวัดสกลนคร โดยสัมภาษณ์และการเล่าเรื่องราวของผู้รู้ซึ่งเป็นสตรีในกลุ่มอาชีพทอผ้าฝ้ายย้อมสีธรรมชาติและนำมาวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กลุ่มเกิดจากสตรีที่มีการทอผ้าเพื่อใช้ในการนุ่งห่มภายในหมู่บ้านนำความรู้ที่ได้มาใช้ในการสร้างรายได้โดยการผลิตผ้าฝ้ายย้อมสีธรรมชาติ  การแปรรูปดำเนินการโดยสมาชิกของกลุ่ม เครือข่าย ลูกค้าทั่วไป การจำหน่ายส่วนมากเป็นการออกร้านงานแสดงสินค้า การส่งเสริมการขายโดยการประชาสัมพันธ์และการประสานงานกับส่วนราชการและเอกชนต่าง ๆ ทั้งภายในและต่างจังหวัด องค์ความรู้ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นที่สามารถรวบรวมและนำไปเผยแพร่ ได้แก่ 1) การย้อมผ้าฝ้ายด้วยสีธรรมชาติ คือ ขั้นตอนในการเตรียมเส้นฝ้ายและขั้นตอนการย้อมสีธรรมชาติที่ได้จากเปลือกไม้และที่ได้จากกิ่งและใบของต้นคราม 2) การทอผ้า คือ ขั้นตอนการเตรียมเส้นพุ่งและเส้นยืนและขั้นตอนการทอผ้า  

This research had the objective to compile knowledge on natural cotton cloth dyeing in That Thong Tambon, Sawang Daen Din District, Sakon Nakhorn Province. Data were collected by interviews with and personal stories of knowledgeable members of the Cotton Natural Dyeing Group. These data were subjected to content analysis. The findings from the study show that the group was formed by a number of village women who were skilled in cotton cloth production. They felt that their products might be attractive to others outside the village setting and help generate income in the process. The emphasis of the group is on natural dyes and adaptation of the methods based on interaction of the group members, the network, and general consumer population. The marketing of the product is largely through product fairs, public relations about the product, and coordination with government and private agencies, within and outside the province. The traditional wisdom behind the success of this enterprise can be summarized as follows: (1) The dyeing process includes the preparation of the cloth thread using dyes from tree bark, branches and leaves; and (2) The arrangement of the horizontal and vertical threads to create the pattern.
