The Language Usage and Techniques of the Speech in Graduation Ceremony Given at Srinakharinwirot University

Abstract

This research was aimed at analyzing the language usage and Techniques of The Speech in Graduation Ceremony Given at Srinakharinwirot University.  The speech was found formulated with eight key language features namely; using repetition to highlight meaning, using repetition to clarify ideas, overlap of semantical cognate words, overlap of words with conjunctions, the use of overlapping repeating words, the use of compound words, using sentence parallelism, and using comparison language. The Techniques in the speech conformed to the following structures: The introduction was formed with five contents and three structures. The body had six contents with two structures. The presentation of content was based on seven mechanisms namely; grouping of content, explaining and content clarifying, defining of meaning, referencing, questioning, exemplifying, and exploiting of cause and effect relationship. The closing of the script had four contents with three structural forms.
