The Use of Thai Literature in Pongsakorn's Novels

Abstract

This article aims to study the use and the role of Thai literature in the novels of Pongsakorn. The study reveals that there are four characteristics of Thai literatureuse in Pongsakorn's novels. First is the plots created from Thai literature. Second is the characters named from Thai literature- the characters in novels that have been taken from literature play roles and are constructed from Thai literature. Third are the settings created from Thai literature. Forth are the magic objects created from Thai literature that play a role in the novels. The Thai literature used in Pongsakorn's novels play three significant roleds. First is to add a feeling of verisimilitude. The second is to convey the messages of the novels. And the last is to emphasize emotion. The use of Thai literature is a feature that enhances the enjoyment and message of Pongsakorn's novels. This show succession, as well as the dynamics of the aesthetical cultures of Thai literature.
