Phra Prathon Chedi de Nakhon Pathom Description du monument et comparaisons

Abstract

This article is an introduction to the Phra Prathon Chedi, one of most important religious monuments of the Dväravatī Period in Nakhon Pathom, on the occasion of its recent restoration. The article first presents a few French documents related to Phra Prathon Chedi and the circumstances which led to its restoration. Then, the paper provides a general description of its architectural layout. Finally, it presents the comparison of Phra Prathon Chedi with other religious monuments of the same period in Nakhon Pathom and elsewhere. A number of pictures taken during and after the restoration are included.
