Publication Ethics of Journal of the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University

Journal of the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University promotes the publication ethics according to the COPE standard. Thus, suitable Ethics of Journal principles shall be published for related parties of paper including duties of journal editor, reviewer and author.

1. Duties of Journal Editor
    1.1
Publication Decision
          Journal of the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University accepts only an original article which has never been published before (except in the form of an abstract) or has been published in other journals. The editorial department has duties to determine which original article should be published in their journal. The editor requests suggestion from the journal’s editorial department as well as considering relevant the legal requirements including copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor could consult with the editorial department and the reviewers regarding conclusion of paper acceptance.
    1.2 Confidentiality
          The editor and editorial department shall protect the confidentiality of submitted original articles until they have been published already, unless it's doubtful that an original article has been submitted before or such original article has been revised for republication. Their data and opinions could be examined and its confidentiality shall be preserved and not allowed to publish for personal benefits.
    1.3 Plagiarism
          A submitted paper or original shall not contain any plagiarized content strictly. The editor will use his/her best efforts to ensure such submitted original article is without plagiarism. All submitted original articles are examined by the editorial department in terms of plagiarism. Possibly, a plagiarism checker software will be used for detection.
    1.4 Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
          All sources of research fund shall be disclosed and without conflicts of interest. All paper submission must disclose any relationships which could be considered possible conflicts of interest including sponsoring agency and research consultant. A relevant author must insist that he/she is responsible for decision upon paper submission and all data accessibilities regarding such study.

2. Reviewers
    2.1 Contribution to Editorial Decisions
          A reviewer has duties to assist and give a suggestion to the editor and editorial department concerning decision on acceptance or publication of original article. Additionally, the reviewer will assist an author with improving qualities of the original paper.
    2.2 Confidentiality
          A reviewer must ensure confidentiality of quality control process and shall not consult any other researcher or person about the research until the paper has been published. An unpublished part in an original article under review shall not be cited. Any citation thereof made by a reviewer shall have written consent from an author with the acknowledgment of editorial department. Data or concept acquired from the quality control shall be confidential and not used for personal benefits.
    2.3 Standards of Objectivity
          All original articles’ qualities must be evaluated objectively by experts in certain fields. Opinion without supporting evidence must not be applied in quality consideration.
    2.4 Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
          A reviewer shall not use any qualified data for his/her personal benefits. A reviewer shall not accept the quality control process, in case such reviewer has conflicts of interest with a author, agency or institute related to the original article.

3. Authors
    3.1 Authorship
          An author must agree to submit and arrange authors’ name according to their duty. The author must accept that relevant authors related to certain paper could be responsible for the quality control process from the editorial department and publication process on behalf of all authors.
    3.2 Originality and Plagiarism
          An original article submitted to the Journal of the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University shall have not been published before or considered for publication with other journals.
          An author must ensure that he/she write an original article correctly. In case the author has used and/or quoted other author’s words, he/she must give them citation suitably and mention them in content and reference.
          Attempts to plagiarize, create / counterfeit or provide incorrect citation result in rejection of submitted paper. The Journal of the Faculty of Arts reserves the rights to use a plagiarism checker software to detect the plagiarism for screening submitted papers.
    3.3 Human Subjects
          In case of research related to participators / volunteers, an author shall ensure that the process is lawful or relevant regulations and complies with the institute’s guideline.
          An author must provide an explanation in the original article approved by the ethics committee for any experiments / human experiments. An author must put the approval in the paper.
    3.4 Disclosure and Conflicts of interest
          All sources of research fund shall be disclosed and possible conflicts of interest shall be identified. All paper submission must disclose any relationships which could be considered possible conflicts of interest.
