การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาบทความของวารสารอักษรศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ประชากรการวิจัยคือวารสารอักษรศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ตีพิมพ์ระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2545 ถึง พ.ศ. 2558 รวม 23 ฉบับ 224 บทความ เครื่องมือการวิจัยคือแบบบันทึกข้อมูล การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้การแจกแจงความถี่ และหาค่าร้อยละ ผลวิจัยพบว่าบทความที่พบมากที่สุดคือบทความวิชาการ บทความส่วนใหญ่มีผู้เขียน 1 คน ผู้เขียนส่วนใหญ่สังกัดคณะอักษรศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร เนื้อหาของบทความจำนวนมากที่สุดเป็นบทความในสาขาภาษาไทย จำนวน 61 บทความ รองลงมาคือสาขาประวัติศาสตร์ จำนวน 60 บทความ รายการอ้างอิงที่พบจำนวนมากที่สุดคือหนังสือหรือตำรา
