ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอาณาจักรอยุธยากับอาณาจักรล้านช้าง

บทความวิจัยนี้ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอาณาจักรอยุธยากับอาณาจักรล้านช้างระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 1893-2310 มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะความสัมพันธ์ทางการเมืองและทางการค้าระหว่างอาณาจักรอยุธยากับอาณาจักรล้านช้าง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอาณาจักรอยุธยากับอาณาจักรล้านช้างมีสองด้านคือ ความสัมพันธ์ทางการเมืองปรากฏชัดเจนในสมัยสมเด็จพระมหาจักรพรรดิและสมเด็จพระไชยเชษฐาธิราชเจ้าที่ทั้งสองอาณาจักรทำสัญญาเป็นพันธไมตรีกัน ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อความสัมพันธ์มาจากความพยายามขยายปริมณฑลอำนาจของพม่าในสมัยพระเจ้าบุเรงนอง หลังจากสมัยนี้ความสัมพันธ์เป็นไปในลักษณะล้านช้างขอความช่วยเหลือจากอยุธยาเนื่องจากเกิดความแตกแยกในหมู่พระราชวงศ์ ความสัมพันธ์ด้านการค้ามีลักษณะการเป็นคู่ค้าโดยอยุธยาเป็นตลาดรับซื้อสินค้าของป่าซึ่งเป็นที่ต้องการของตลาดจีนจากล้านช้างและเป็นแหล่งรวมสินค้าจากดินแดนภายนอกให้พ่อค้าจากล้านช้างซื้อหากลับไปเพื่อกระจายสู่ดินแดนตอนใน
