วรรณคดีอังกฤษยุคกลางถือเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของประวัติศาสตร์วรรณคดีอังกฤษ งานวรรณกรรมของอังกฤษที่ประพันธ์ขึ้นในยุคกลางเกือบทั้งหมดล้วนได้รับอิทธิพลจากคริสต์ศาสนาเนื่องจากความเชื่อและวิถีชีวิตของผู้คนอังกฤษและยุโรปในยุคกลางถูกครอบงำโดยคริสต์ศาสนาและศาสนจักรแห่งโรมันคาทอลิกเป็นสำคัญ บทความนี้เป็นการนำเสนอให้เห็นถึงอิทธิพลของคริสต์ศาสนาที่มีต่อการสร้างสรรค์งานวรรณกรรมในยุคกลาง อิทธิพลของคริสต์ศาสนาที่มีต่อวรรณคดียุคกลางสามารถเห็นได้ผ่านบทบาทของนักบวชในฐานะเป็นผู้สร้างสรรค์งานวรรณกรรม นอกจากนี้งานวรรณกรรมในยุคกลางของอังกฤษจำนวนมากยังเกิดขึ้นเพื่อเผยแพร่คำสอนและความเชื่อทางศาสนา ตลอดทั้งเพื่อประกาศให้สาธารณชนได้ทราบถึงประวัติคริสต์ศาสนาผ่านการเผยแพร่งานเหล่านี้
