ภาพตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุไทยที่สื่อผ่าน กลวิธีทางภาษาในหนังสือพิมพ์รายวันไทย

ประเด็นเรื่องผู้สูงอายุได้รับความสนใจจากนักวิชาการหลายสาขาเนื่องจากสังคมไทยได้เข้าสู่สังคมผู้สูงอายุแล้ว บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ภาพตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุที่สื่อผ่านกลวิธีทางภาษาตามแนววาทกรรมวิเคราะห์เชิงวิพากษ์ ข้อมูลที่ใช้ศึกษาคือพาดหัวข่าว ข่าว บทความ คอลัมน์ และข้อเขียนอื่น ๆ เกี่ยวกับผู้สูงอายุในหนังสือพิมพ์ไทยรัฐและเดลินิวส์ ปี พ.ศ. 2559 โดยใช้แนวคิดผู้แสดงทางสังคม (social actors) และชนิดกระบวนการ (transitivity) เป็นกรอบการวิเคราะห์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ภาพตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุที่ปรากฏผ่านหนังสือพิมพ์มีทั้งสองแง่มุม กล่าวคือ ในด้านหนึ่งภาพตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุถูกนำเสนอในฐานะผู้ที่ไร้ความสามารถต้องได้รับการดูแลและอยู่ในภาวะพึ่งพา ผู้มีร่างกายทรุดโทรม และเป็นปัญหาและภาระของประเทศ ในอีกด้านหนึ่งเป็นภาพตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุในฐานะผู้มีศักยภาพ และเป็นผู้ที่ควรเคารพ ทั้งนี้ภาพตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุมักถูกนำเสนอด้าน
ที่เป็นด้านลบมากกว่า การเน้นนำเสนอภาพดังกล่าวมากเป็นพิเศษเป็นการมองภาพแบบเหมารวม ภาพดังกล่าวอาจทำให้เกิดเป็น “วาทกรรมแห่งความกลัว” หรือปฏิเสธความแก่ความชรา ส่งผลต่อมุมมองของผู้สูงอายุที่มีต่อตนเอง อีกทั้งส่งผลต่อความคิดและมุมมองของคนในสังคมที่มีตอ่ ผู้สูงอายุและปฏิบัติตอ่ ผู้สูงอายุ
