Creative radio drama for Enhancing the Good Health with Nutrition for Elderly Thai people in Thailand 4.0

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to develop creative radio dramas to promote healthy diets for the elderly in Thailand 4.0; 2) to compare the knowledge of healthy diets for the elderly; and 3) to study the satisfaction of listening to creative radio dramas to promote healthy diets for the elderly. This research was a mixed method. The sample consisted of 95 elderly people in Bangkok, aged 60–70 years, using simple random sampling and purposive sampling, divided into 3 individual trials, 12 subgroups, and 30 large trials. A sample of 50 people was evaluated for their satisfaction with listening to creative radio dramas. There were three types of research tools: 1) Developed creative radio dramas; 2) Healthy diet knowledge assessment for the elderly; and 3) Satisfaction assessment form for creative radio dramas. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results showed that:


1. The qualitative suitability of creative radio dramas to promote healthy diets for the elderly in Thailand 4.0 is at the highest level.


2. For the comparison of the average healthy diet knowledge scores for the elderly in Thailand 4.0, it was found that the scores after listening to creative radio dramas were higher than before.


3. The overall satisfaction of listening to creative radio dramas to promote healthy diets for the elderly in Thailand 4.0 was at a high level.


Creative radio drama was a channel to transfer knowledge about nutritious food to the elderly in order to prepare them for a sustainable entry into an aging society.
