Academic Administration of Early Childhood Education: Thai-Japanese

Abstract

Early childhood education is very important because the first five years of a child’s life are considered the best time for learning. Children’s experiences influence the development of their emotional control brain, social skills, language, and numbers. This article aimed to study and compare early childhood education management in terms of academic administration at the early childhood level in Thailand and Japan. Moreover, it will be useful and adaptable to the guidelines for academic administration in early childhood education with quality in Thailand. The issues of academic administration in five areas are: 1) school curriculum management; 2) learning management; 3) assessment of grades; 4) development of media, innovation, and educational technology; and 5) engaging the community to participate in academic strengthening. It can be seen that the academic administration at the early childhood level in Thailand has its strengths, including the aim of the course in order to have life skills and practice according to the philosophy of sufficiency economy discipline and live happily with others. Academic administration at the early childhood level in Japan has the following strengths: 1) objectives and contents of the course to make children happy and learning with fun not academically focused; 2) organizing learning experiences by learning through play to let the child do things by themselves. Cultivate public consciousness and be able to live with others in an orderly society; and 3) encourage children to do activities with their families, and family involvement will support “quality family.”
