The Formation Process and Artistic Characteristics of the Shaanxi Guzheng (Zither) School of Chinese

Abstract
The guzheng (zither) has a long history and rich schools in China. The Shaanxi guzheng school is one of the eight major schools of guzheng with distinct characteristics. This paper focuses on the Shaanxi guzheng school and aims to explore 1) its formative process and 2) its artistic characteristics.
The research sample includes relevant historical documents, musical works, information about inherited figures, and field research information. The data are collected through consulting various materials, visiting relevant people, collecting activity materials, etc. Data collection is carried out using literature collection forms and interview outlines, and descriptive statistics and content analysis methods are used for analysis. The results of the study are as follows:
1. Shaanxi zither school originated in Qin, revived in the early days of the founding of new China, and developed through germination, consolidation, and expansion. The creative styles of each stage are different.
2. Its inheritance is mainly based on the master and apprentice of colleges and universities, with families as a supplement, showing an open and pan-inheritance mode, and the inheritance population is diversified.
3. Shaanxi music culture has a great influence on its formation, and local language, regional culture, folk instrumental music, songs, and opera play their roles in melody, style, and material, respectively.
