บทคัดย่อ

งานวิจัยเรื่อง “ทัศนคติการตั้งชื่อเล่นสองพยางค์ของคนไทย” มีวัตถุประสงค์คือ เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยและเหตุผลอันเป็นที่มาของการตั้งชื่อเล่นสองพยางค์ของคนไทยสมัยปัจจุบัน เพื่อทำความเข้าใจทัศนคติของคนไทยในปัจจุบันต่อการตั้งชื่อเล่น ผู้วิจัยได้เก็บข้อมูลโดยการส่งแบบสอบถามที่สร้างขึ้น ซึ่งมีข้อความเกี่ยวกับเหตุผลต่างๆ ในการตั้งชื่อเล่นสองพยางค์ เพื่อให้ผู้ปกครองนักเรียนชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 2-3 และชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1-6 ของโรงเรียนเอกชนแห่งหนึ่งในกรุงเทพมหานครได้ให้น้ำหนักกับเหตุผลของแต่ละข้อ โดยได้ส่งแบบสอบถามให้ผู้ปกครองของนักเรียนทุกคนที่มีชื่อเล่นสองพยางค์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า จำนวนร้อยละของนักเรียนที่มีชื่อสองพยางค์ในระดับชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 2 และ 3 มีถึงร้อยละ 48.33 และ 47.34  ซึ่งสูงกว่านักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 และ 6 ที่มีชื่อสองพยางค์เพียงร้อยละ 38.37 และ 30.71 เหตุผลที่ผู้ปกครองให้น้ำหนักในการตั้งชื่อเล่นสองพยางค์  4 ลำดับแรกคือ 1) ต้องเป็นสองพยางค์ จึงจะได้มีความหมายตามที่ต้องการ 2) ต้องการความแปลกใหม่ไม่ซ้ำใคร 3) ต้องการให้ฟังดูโก้เก๋ 4) ตั้งชื่อตามชื่อสัตว์ ดอกไม้ ผลไม้ ขนมที่ชอบ งานวิจัยเรื่องนี้สรุปผลวิจัยได้ว่า ปัจจุบันแนวโน้มในการตั้งชื่อเล่นสองพยางค์มีมากขึ้นกว่าในอดีตเพราะต้องการให้มีความหมายที่ดีและมีความหมายตามที่ต้องการ หากตัดจำนวนพยางค์ออกไปจะทำให้ไม่ได้ความหมายตามต้องการ

Abstract

This research aims to study the contributing factors and reasons why the modern Thai’s guardians love to give their children disyllabic nicknames so as to reveal their attitude towards choosing such nicknames. The researcher made a survey by using a questionnaire which consists of questions that concern the topic of why one would choose a disyllabic nickname for one’s child. The questionnaires were sent out to guardians of young students in kindergarten and primary schools. The result shows that the kindergarten students in year 2 and 3 with disyllabic nicknames make up 48.33% and 47.34% of the overall number of their classes respectively. This percentage is significantly higher than that of primary school students in year 5 and 6 whose disyllabic nicknames are only 38.37% and 30.71% respectively. This can point to a growing trend of giving a child disyllabic nickname which has never been found in the past. It is discovered that one of the main reasons why guardians give their children disyllabic nicknames is that often these nicknames have desirable meanings where one syllable omission cannot be done; otherwise a change will occur to the preferred meanings. Other reasons include the desire for their children to have a unique and smart sounding nickname and the desire to name after their favorite animals, flowers, fruits and dessert.
