A New Look at Other Perspectives from The Integrationist View of Music Education

Following the spirit of integration proposed by Bennett Reimer in the field of music education, we conduct a new examination of the historical views of music "formal theory", "practical theory" and "functional theory". By returning the above questions to their starting point, we will find that there are also different voices within many opinions. More importantly, through discourse analysis of representatives of each viewpoint, we can find that each viewpoint cannot be said to be completely correct or wrong. The problem is that if they are given an extreme expression, it is easy to blur the essential attributes of music's compatibility and openness. Therefore, this article attempts to make a certain analysis of these views that exist in history by carefully sorting out these issues.
