This study aimed to examine the organizational structures and management characteristics of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and to identify the key components of successor development within the Esports and Entertainment industries. In addition, the study sought to formulate strategic guidelines for enhancing effective successor development and ensuring the long-term sustainability of SMEs operating in these industries. A mixed-methods research approach was employed to obtain comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evidence. The study population comprised executives of SMEs in the Esports and Entertainment industries, with a sample of 400 executives. Data were collected using research instruments developed to assess organizational structures, management characteristics, and the key factors influencing successor development. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, while the relationships among the identified factors were examined through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).

The findings identified four critical components of successor development: (1) Innovation and Technology, which emphasizes the adoption of innovative practices and the development of technological capabilities; (2) Cooperation Networks, which focuses on strengthening organizational policies and fostering collaborative relationships; (3) Knowledge Management, which involves establishing dedicated mechanisms or organizational units to facilitate systematic knowledge transfer; and (4) Business Transfer, which encompasses various approaches to preparing and developing future business leaders and successors. The statistical findings indicated that SME entrepreneurs placed significant importance on all four components at the 0.05 significance level. Furthermore, the Structural Equation Model demonstrated a satisfactory fit with the empirical data, thereby supporting the hypothesized relationships among the key factors. Overall, the findings provide an empirical foundation for developing strategic guidelines to enhance successor development, strengthen organizational continuity, and promote the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of SMEs in the Esports and Entertainment industries.
