Social Welfare Management Model for Intellectual Disability and Autism Persons in Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study a current situation and problems of social welfare management for intellectual disability and autism persons in Khon Kaen province. The study is used for developing the welfare management for intellectual disability and autism persons in Khon Kaen province. This research is qualitative research. The data used in this research are from 2 sources these are 1) an analysis of Thai and foreign social welfare management and 2) the study of a current situation of social welfare management for intellectual disability and autism persons in Khon Kaen province by interviewing of 40 administrators, officers and parents. The instrument used to collect the data was a structured interview. The results of the study revealed that there are 7 organizations managing the social welfare management for intellectual disability and autism persons in Khon Kaen province. In the present. The organizations service 4 parts of social welfare these are 1) health part, 2) educational part, 3) working part. From the analysis, it shows that the health part and the daily living part were served in many organizations. The main problems of social welfare management for intellectual disability and autism persons in Khon Kaen province are lacking of staff and specialist. The important demand of the organizations is a team of multidisciplinary and job training courses for disability persons and their parents. The social welfare management model for intellectual disability and autism persons in Khon Kaen province should be divided into 3 levels. The organizations must work along the policies without the redundancy of working.
