Factors Motivating Parents’ Decision-Making to Enroll their Children in Kanchanapisekwitthayalai Kalasin School

Abstract

The research was divided into 2 phrases. The first phrase was to examine the levels of factors motivating parents’ decision-making to enroll their children in KanchanapisekwitthayalaiKalasin School. The sample consisted of 205 parents during the first semester, academic year 2018. The instrument used for datacollection was a rating scale questionnaire. In terms of the index of item objective congruence, it was found that the value was equivalent to 1.00 with the discrimination between 0.21-0.61, and the reliability at 0.92. The statistics used for analyzing the collected data were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The second phrase was toexamine the recommendations for quality management in education of KanchanapisekwitthayalaiKalasin School by using a focus group discussion. Qualitative data using content analysis method was presented in a descriptive research. The findings were as follows :
1. The factors affecting the decision of parents to enroll their children in KanchanapisekwitthayalaiKalasin School were overall at a high level. When each aspect was considered, it was found that the factor was at a high level in every aspect. The rankings from the highest to the lowest mean were : academy, personnel, school and community relationship, building and environment, facilities and services, and instructional management. 
2. The recommendations for the quality management in education of KanchanapisekwitthayalaiKalasin School included 3 main aspects. 1) The first aspect is instructional management. School should provide extra classes for students. Administrators should supervise and control instructional design and management. To improve teacher quality, there is a need to promote teachers to participate in training programs,  conferences, and seminars. Furthermore, school should provideup-to-date multimedia in order to enhance the accessibility of learning. 2) The second aspect is facilities and services. School is required to have wireless internet in delivering effective learning, an electronic library, a library, a medical room, clean restrooms, and a school shop. 3) The third one is building and environment. A physical school environment should be clean and safe. There are enough general and gifted classrooms,small parks, and health parks for students. In addition, sports stadium, a shuttle service together with restrooms should always be repaired and maintained.
