บทคัดย่อ

บทความนี้มุ่งสำรวจว่า “ภาพแทนคุณลักษณะล้านนา” ถูกนำเสนอในงานออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรมโรงแรมอย่างไร พิจารณาจากบริบทของจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ในช่วงปี 2555-2565 ที่เกิดกระแสการหยิบยกลักษณะเด่นของท้องถิ่นมาสร้างภาพจำและความได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันเชิงแนวคิดที่แตกต่างอันเป็นหนึ่งในคุณสมบัติของโรงแรมประเภทบูทีคและโรงแรมขนาดเล็ก งานวิจัยใช้วิธีนำภาพแทนที่ถูกคัดเลือกสำหรับการออกแบบโรงแรมมาวิเคราะห์ถึงอัตลักษณ์ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงได้ตามบริบทเวลาและสถานที่ โดยใช้หลักเกณฑ์ทฤษฎีการพัฒนาลักษณะสถาปัตยกรรมไทย เพื่ออ่านลักษณะการออกแบบโรงแรมว่ามีการปรับเปลี่ยนจากสถาปัตยกรรมล้านนาต้นแบบเพียงใด จากนั้นอ้างอิงแนวคิดท้องถิ่นนิยมวิพากษ์ของเคนเนธ แฟรมป์ตัน มาวิเคราะห์การสร้างความหมาย และการนำคุณลักษณะล้านนามาปรุงใหม่ เพื่ออภิปรายว่าสถาปัตยกรรมร่วมสมัยใหม่ดังเช่นโรงแรมกรณีศึกษามีการเชื่อมโยงกับความเป็นท้องถิ่นในบริบทปัจจุบันหรือไม่ อย่างไร

ผลการศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นว่ารูปแบบที่โรงแรมกรณีศึกษาพัฒนาจากงานสถาปัตยกรรมต้นแบบมีอยู่ 2 ลักษณะ คือ ปรับเปลี่ยน คือ การคำนึงถึงประโยชน์การใช้สอยแบบสมัยใหม่เป็นหลักแต่คงความเป็นพื้นถิ่นและการสืบทอดวัฒนธรรมไว้ และ คิดใหม่ทำใหม่ คือ แนวคิดที่ไม่ยึดติดสัญลักษณ์ของสถาปัตยกรรมดั้งเดิม แต่มีการตีความเชิงนามธรรมเพื่อให้ยังคงอารมณ์และความรู้สึกถึงความเป็นท้องถิ่นและความเป็นล้านนา ทั้งนี้ จากภาพแทนคุณลักษณะล้านนาทั้งหมดที่โรงแรมหยิบยกมาใช้ มีจำนวน 6 ภาพ แทนที่ถูกกล่าวซ้ำผ่านการสื่อสารทางกายภาพ ได้แก่ หลังคาทรงจั่ว แป้นเกล็ดไม้ ลวดลายฉลุ งานหัตถกรรมจักสาน หม้อดอก (ปูรณฆฏะ) และความเชื่อมงคลเกี่ยวกับปีนักษัตร โดยทั้งหมดนี้ใช้กลวิธีนำองค์ประกอบสถาปัตยกรรมพื้นถิ่นมาใช้แบบ “ปรุงใหม่” และแฝงด้วยกระบวนการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ใหม่ให้กับถิ่นที่เดิม
