การเดินทาง 4 ปีกว่าของ กสทช. กับผลงาน ความท้าทาย และความคาดหวังจากสังคมไทย
Abstract
NBTC or National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission has become a well-known organization in Thailand for the last four years. This is because NBTC plays an important role in Thailand telecoms and broadcasting transition like no other organizations had before.
During all four and a half year of NBTC’s operation, NBTC has been through many trails and errors, successes and failures, praises and criticisms. Despite having been through all these, NBTC keeps showing its works and achievements. Among NBTC works, the outstanding ones are transcending the telecoms industry from traditional state-owned concessionaire regime to the market-based and liberalized licensing regime, requiring registration of all prepaid cards for security reasons, and transform analog-based television into digital television broadcasting.
NBTC still has a long path to walk especially to regulate and control all that involving in telecoms and broadcasting sectors. Regulating and controlling of all parties are hard and very detailed works. The works need much of attention, support and participation from all, especially Thai people, to be able to best develop telecoms and broadcasting sectors in Thailand.
This paper presents general facts of NBTC or National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission in a brief and simple way to be understood, yet with sufficient information to understand roles of NBTC in Thailand broadcasting and telecommunication. This paper aims to help Thais understand NBTC better, and hopefully more people will eventually see its importance, pay attention, inspect, support, and participate in NBTC works and in Thailand broadcasting and telecommunication development.
