A Model for Community Health Management based on Community Culture

This research aimก to study community health management, to analyze and revive community culture in community health management, and to take the experience to revive the community culture for health management. The author employed phenomenology as the basis of research and used participatory action research techniques, including community forum, exploring community culture, participant observation, and non-structured in-depth interviews in Ban Pa Hew Community, Umong Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lamphun Province.
The findings indicate that the model of culture-based community health management in Ban Pa Hew is carried out through participatory action processes of people in the community, focusing on self-support situations. The model raises awareness of finding ways to benefit from community culture for promoting and developing their own well-being. That leads to the analysis and revitalization of community culture in community health management, including life style of community culture, tradition of community culture, religion, belief and play, music and recreation of community culture. By analyzing values that leads to revival or repetition of a community culture. It is a lesson of promoting and developing people in the community to change their behavior of promoting and developing community health. This culture-based approach is a new dimension of community health management and has potential for further application.
