Abstract

This study focuses on the safety management of motorcycle rentals through the development of road safety applications. The study area is Mueang district, Chiang Mai Province, which is a bustling area of tourism activities for both Thais and foreigners. Based on 500 questionnaires from a total of three sample groups consisting of foreign tourists, government agencies, and private sector agencies, from feasibility analysis of application development to the practical use in the area. The results showed that in terms of cost, if there are fewer expenses to be paid for using the application, more decisions will be made to use the application, especially if the application is free (2.980). There should be a full motorcycle inspection in 10 minutes (0.804), and there should be a driving skills assessments with appropriate questions (0.906). An emergency function should be offered at a low cost (0.592). The overall picture reflects that the main function of a motorcycle rental application is to inspect the condition of the motorcycle and assess the driving skills before and after renting a motorcycle.  Within the application there should be a function to provide information on safe travel in tourism such as accident situations, travel fundamentals, traffic rules and driving information, as well as recommended tourist attractions information available to all groups of users. This model will help screen renters who are ready to drive, thereby reducing the risk of traveling with a rented motorcycle in Chiang Mai.
