This paper presents a participatory community product upgrading process to support tourism by the Northern Railway in Chiang Mai, Lamphun, and Lampang provinces. Qualitative research methodology was used to study the phenomenon of community for being a guideline to develop and enhance the product. The purposive samples were the leaders and members of community products for 20 people from 9 areas, for a total of 180 participants. Data collection was made by surveys of community latency, community products, and participatory meetings. The content was analyzed and utilized the results for designing the activities with communities. The study decoded the “Lannaness” through lifestyles, architecture, residences, archaeological sites, antiques, traditions, and cultures. The process of enhancing community products was divided into three stages. Firstly, upstream. The communities reviewed their latency, context of product capital, and existing resources. Secondly, middle stream. The community analyzed the outstanding products for planning and designing unique styles, then selected the existing products to add value again. Thirdly, downstream. The community received the benefits from the enhanced products and maintained the community identities. The products were classified into cloth and clothing, souvenirs, food, and herbs for 12 lists. In addition, the community has participated in the evaluation to develop products to reach standards that can support travel by train in the long term.
