English Competency of Hotel Housekeeping Department’s Staffs in Bangkok

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the level of English competency of five stars’ hotel housekeeping department’s staffs and 2) to compare between personal characteristics and the level of English competency of five stars’ hotel housekeeping department’s staffs. The sample consisted of 216 five stars’ hotel housekeeping department’s staff in Bangkok, selected by multiple sampling. The research instruments were multiple-choice and rating scale questionnaires. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics. The major research findings were 1) the level of English competency of hotel housekeeping department’s staffs in Bangkok were at the high level and 2) the level of English competency of hotel housekeeping department’s staffs were statistically significantly different at level of 0.05 among those with certain different personal characteristics; age, marital status, educational level, job position and working period.
