Abstract

This paper is part of a research called “Cultural Adaptation of ASEAN Students in Thai University: A Case Study of Lao and Vietnamese students in Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University” which aims to study difficulties,  nature and factors that facilitate or impede cultural adaptation process of Lao and Vietnamese students in Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. Results showed that “Bicultural Identity” was found to be the nature of cultural adaptation for both Lao and Vietnamese students. The number one factors that facilitate cultural adaptation were Thai friends; other factors were Lao and Vietnamese students themselves, academic staff, Thai language and cultural training course, Thai media consumption. Factors that impede cultural adaptation process were language barrier and cluster of friends from the same country.
