Abstract

This research aimed to explore mathematical reasoning forms of grade 7 students in mathematics classroom using lesson study and Open Approach by using qualitative research methods that emphasized on analytic description and protocol analysis. The target group was 40 students of grade 7 in the first semester of the academic year 2019 in Yasothonpittayakom School. The research instruments consisted of lesson plans of geometry, video-taped, audio-recording, camera and field notes. The result found that in mathematics classroom using lesson study and open approach was as follows: No mathematical reasoning with Imitative reasoning. Mathematical reasoning with creative mathematically founded reasoning showed all 3 components which are novelty, plausibility and mathematical foundation.
