Abstract

Although the issue of women's liberation is recognized throughout the world, and campaigns on sexual equal rights have been launched regularly, news of sexual abuse and violence still hit the front-page headlines of newspapers. The language used in reporting news of women or regarding women has unique linguistic characteristics. This article aims at presenting findings on a study of news headlines, news contents, and captions used in the Bangkok Post, a national English broadsheet, which reports both local and international news.
