Abstract

This research article aimed to study the context that affected political communications during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and to compare the political communication processes during the COVID-19 outbreak crisis adopted by the governments of Thailand and that of the Republic of Singapore. The qualitative research was performed through published paper analyses and results from in-depth interviews with key informants.

The new learnings that could be extracted from this research were: 1. Leaders managing a crisis must have a vision and can communicate clearly and concisely to create trust among the people. 2. A crisis communication master plan was necessary for every country facing a crisis. 3. The centralization of authority in the hands of commanders who needed to gain expertise in crisis management and the lack of a risk management plan were the main factors that directly affected the effectiveness of managing Political Communications during the COVID-19 pandemics.
