POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF CITIZENS IN NONTHABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

Objectives of this research paper were:  1. To present the application of Buddhist principles for the Provincial Election Committee. 2. To promote political participation of the people in Nonthaburi Province using qualitative research methodology. Field data were collected from 5 groups of 19 key informants using a semi-structured interview as a data collection tool. Analyzed the data with contextual content analysis techniques. Data were also collected from participants in focus group discussion. The data were analyzed using contextual content analysis techniques.

The findings were as follows: Communication and Buddha-dharma Principles application for promoting people's political participation in Nonthaburi Province was found to be 1. Voting aspect: the public was enthusiastic about working for the common good. 2. Election conduct: people participated in observation and dedicated themselves to their work by being part of the polling station committee. 3. Election Campaign: people had good human relations in election campaigns and sacrificed their time to participate. 4. Elections: people valued every election. Respected the rights and freedoms of candidates and electors. 5. Political decision-making: people participated in political decision-making by rejecting unfair election laws in eloquent speeches and dedicated to political involvement.
